Fun with the Arts is an after-school arts program for students in grades 1 - 8. Following the Madison County School calendar, this program offers a variety of arts classes held at four hub schools. Students in public elementary schools across Madison County will be bused to three hub schools; Shannon Johnson, White Hall and Glenn Marshall. We are pleased to offer classes for students at B. Michael Caudill Middle School beginning in the Fall of 2010.
Students at Model Lab, St Mark's , Berea Community, and home-schooled students are encouraged to attend classes. Parents must provide transportaton for these students to the hub school of their choice.
Classes in the Fun With the Arts after-school program will begin Monday, August 23, 2010. Students are met by a teacher's aide at 3:00 pm for a snack and supervised homework time. Classes are taught 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm with parent pick up 5:00 pm - 5:15 pm at the hub schools.
Strings 1 and Strings 2 will be taught for 45 minutes twice per week with another class for the students that lasts 45 minutes. Students MUST participate in both classes. A student may not select to stay for only 45 minutes per day. The Guitar 1, Guitar2, and Piano Lab will be taught 45 minutes one day per week with another class the remaining 45 minutes. Again, students may not select one 45 minute class but must stay for the entire 90 minutes. We do not offer 45 minute classes.
Students who do not wish to participate in the instrumental classes have the option of a 90 minute class on the days instrumental classes are taught. We feel 45 minute classes are more age appropriate for the instrumental classes.
Classes are taught by professional artists, teachers from local schools, as well as teachers and students from Eastern Kentucky University. All teachers and aides undergo background checks and screenings.
Tuition is based on the number of days per week a child attends class. Discounts are available to students whose tuition is paid in full or with siblings in the program. Full payment at the time of registration receives a 3% discount. Limited scholarships are available for students whose registrations are received before the scholarship deadline each semeter.
